Job Description (Roles and Responsibilities)


The British Embassy in Poland is part of a world-wide network, representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas and is now looking to recruit two Security Guards. The main purpose of the job is to provide effective and secure access control to the Embassy premises by maintaining control of visitors/contractors/staff/vehicles and to ensure high level security services complying with Embassy security regulations.



Main Duties and Responsibilities:
To provide security services to staff and Embassy premises according to the Embassy security requirements;
To provide relevant security services to visitors and contractors during their stay in the Embassy premises;
To identify all visitors and contractors at the entrance and issue them with appropriate security passes;
To search visitors/contractors and vehicles proficiently before they enter the premises;
To manage visitors having appointments at the Embassy;
Where necessary escort workmen and contractors around the Embassy premises;
To monitor cctv camera system and other security related systems;
Run checks of the British Embassy compound and surrounding area;
Check all mail and parcels arriving at the Embassy with the use of appropriate security devices;
Announce periodical security alerts;
Provide assistance to the Post Security Management team;




Essential qualifications and experience

Min. 3 years of proven professional experience in security environment;
Ability to understand instructions given in English both orally and in writing;
Good oral and written Polish;
Strong interpersonal and communication skills;
Good teamwork and delivering high quality customer service;
Proven organisational skills;
Ability to analyse problems and come up with workable solutions;
Basic IT skills (Word, Outlook, Excel, internet);
High level of integrity.
Desirable qualifications and experience

Team work approach as well as ability to take initiative and lead in the areas of expertise;
Ability to work overtime;
Clear driving license.

This is a full-time position of 5 days (37.5 net per week) for a two year fixed-term contract which may be extended by mutual agreement.

The gross salary for this position is PLN 3,920 PLN gross per month.

In addition the selected candidates will be entitled to the following:
Duty on call in the gross amount of PLN 250 paid monthly
Paid overtime, if applicable
Uniform (suit, shirt, shoes, coat) provided
Private medical scheme



Please note that staff members are responsible for paying any income tax required by the local law.

Working hours are flexible and staff are entitled to time-off-in-lieu for agreed extra hours worked. The annual leave entitlement is 20 or 26 days per year pro rata and the Embassy also enjoys a maximum of 14 Polish / UK public holidays per year.

Candidates must have pre-existing right to live and work in Poland for the duration of the job offer in order to apply. The British Embassy does not sponsor work permits.

Staff recruited locally by the British Embassy in Warsaw are subject to Terms and Conditions of Service according to Polish employment law.

Please be aware that the Embassy will not be able to cover any costs connected with interviews and relocation. The successful candidate will be subject to the Polish background check (KRK) and satisfactory completion of a probationary period of three months. Candidates must have pre-existing work authorisation for Poland in order to apply.
